Garden of the Gods oil landscape painting by Colorado artist Tracy Haines

Garden of the Gods l
16x20 oil

I had posted the "start" underpainting of this on the 20th.  I'm adding much more color these days- pushing the limits with oil.  I am trying to move in a more abstract direction, but, wow, it's not as easy a transition as I thought.

Great Tip!!  I just happened upon a podcast for artists called,
" Artists Helping Artists".  It's terrific; and good to listen to while painting in the studio. I highly recommend checking it out.

Tangles( EB123) is an 8x10 oil painting on masonite.

I was shooting photos of my son, his date, and friends at a local park for homecoming pictures.  The light was great; I got distracted and started thinking as an artist, not a mom, to the consternation of son! ;) Got great pics and a nice painting though!

This fall study was done en plein air up in Evergreen on a pass towards Mount Evans. The painting was about capturing the color in light and shadow of the lovely aspen leaves.

The drive back to Colorado from Nebraska is relaxing and actually very pretty in places. I had to pull over for this scene.  The light hit just right, and the water reflected the sky color in such a paintable way.
This is acrylic on watercolor paper. A 5x7 image with a margin of white paper for framing.

Easy Come
Easy Go
So swift, So transient,
the fallen snow.
It comes to rest so tenderly
on jagged rock
and fallen tree.

I screeched my little ole jeep to a slipping, sliding halt as I drove up this pass from Como, Colorado towards Breckenridge.  Just loved the colors of those distant mountains!!  This 9x12 oil on panel was painted en plein air while I was precariously perched on the side of a road.  One false step backwards off the cliff  and bye-bye Tracy.  The average artist will indeed risk life and limb for a painting!

Bid for this on eBay, if you are so inclined, on 3/4/14. Search Hoosier Pass EB46
